first day of the new semester

never schedule yourself for 8 hours of class in one day. this isn’t high school anymore- some of these courses can stretch up to four hours at a time! you’re not getting any younger. it all starts going downhill after college, folks, and your attention span isn’t about to compensate for your fading youth either. be ambitious, but being overly so will make you regret these golden years, where loan payments are blissfully in the future and you can look forward to having your mother do laundry for you on weekends.

also, this college girl just woke up with a random guitar pick underneath her covers. WHERE did it come from?! The mystery continues!

Locked out

Don’t be a mess. It’s bad to be a mess as a college student. Wait until you’re out in the “real world.” Get over being a mess as a high school student. Use those four years wisely- mess up often, but have a great time doing it. Don’t do what this sophomore did last night.

Picked the wrong set of keys. Got locked out of the halls after 2 a.m. Tried calling the usually reliable boyfriend, but was somehow connected to the college’s walkie talkie security system network. Waited for promised help. It didn’t arrive. Thankfully, my roommate is a saint, and she came to the rescue. If not, this college student would have stayed in that stairwell until sunrise, hysterical in the sad sense, not the comedic.

Keep track of your keys, dammit!

First day

Yesterday was the “first” unofficial day of sophomore year.  My floor mates are different, more mature. I hung lots of posters and set my alarm clock early to help froshies move in. Early move-in is an attractive incentive, but after spending over 5 hours in that community service, this “good samaritan” is done for the day.

The White Stripes are finally on iTunes! My roommate, the RA, posted a sign on our door stating she is not in at the moment. It was very considerate, because so many residents are knocking.

Freshman move-in day: A day to dread, yet treasure.
