The most important detail of that thought is to follow through — sometimes, people stop because they want reprieve, a shout of “UNCLE! I SAID, UNCLE!!!” in order to get a buffering zone of space. To be left alone. To suffer in silence, or worse, harm themselves. And sometimes, a true blue friend or significant other just has to push through and wait. Stand serene and available, having the patience until said person opens one eye, and sees you standing there, ready to will them forward again.
